- Birth rate: number of births over a year divide total population 1.000
- Death rate: number of deaths over a year divide total population per 1.000
- Natural increase: is the birth rate minus the death rate. It is expressed as a percentage
- Infant mortality rate: number of deaths infants under age 1 divide the total life births in a year per 1.000
- Life expectancy: the time between a person's birth and his or her death
- Birth control: method of limiting the number of children you have
- Dependent population: the people who rely on the working population for support.
- Family panning: the process of controlling how many children you will have.
- Population pyramids/age-gender structures: a serie of horizontal cohorts that illustrate the structure of a population. The cohorts are divided in age categories. Males are on the left and females are on the right.
- Replacement rate: is the percentage of a worker's pre-retirement income that is paid out by a pension program upon retirement.
- Dependency ratio: The dependency ratio is a measure showing the number of dependents, aged zero to 14 and over the age of 65, to the total population, aged 15 to 64.
- Fertility rate: is the number of births divide the number of women ages 15-49 per 1.000
- Ageing people: Ageing population is a phenomenon that occurs when the median age of a country or region increases due to rising life expectancy and/or declining fertility rates
- Population distribution: the arrangement or spread of people living in a given area; also,how the population of an area is arranged according to variables such as age, race, or sex.
- Population density: is a measurement of population per unit area or unit volume.
- MEDC: more economically developed country
- LEDC: less economically developed country
- Overpopulation: it has too many people for the amount of food, materials, and space available there.
- Under population: population lower than is normal or desirable.
