GEOGRAPHY - UNIT 1 - VOCABULARY


  • Ocean: a very big mass of water.
  • Coast: land along the edge of the sea.
  • Mountain range: a group of mountains.
  • Valley: a low area of land between two mountains or hills
  • Hill: is a high area of land smaller than a mountain.
  • River: a mass of water that flows across the land.
  • Lake: a mass of water that has land around it.
  • Desert: a big, hot and dry area of sand.
  • Oasis: is a place in a desert where is water and the land is fertile.
  • Island: an area of land that has water around it.
  • Archipelago: a group of many islands.
  • Continent: a very big extension of land.
  • Flood: is when a river breaks its banks.
  • Earthquake: a sudden movement of the ground caused by movements withing the earth`s crust
  • Volcano: is a mountain that has a hole at the top.
  • Agriculture: cultivation of goods.
  • Goods: everything we need to survive.
  • Timber:people that cut down trees to create paper or whatever.
  • Dams: a wall built across a river that stop the water and make a lake
  • Accurate: good enough.
